The sixth volume of Cothias and Marc-Renier's acclaimed series brings us face to face — quite literally — with the haunting iron mask itself, rendered here in striking close-up as a gaunt, hollow-eyed visage dominates the cover against the warm glow of a barred prison window behind it. The subtitle Le Roi des Comédiens ("The King of Actors") adds an air of theatrical intrigue to this claustrophobic, atmospheric image.
