Le serpent et la lance #2

Set against the cold teal glow of massive stone architecture, this second act of Hub's Le Serpent et la Lance — subtitled Maison-Vide — presents two striking figures rooted in pre-Columbian visual tradition: a warrior adorned with skull ornaments stands in the foreground, while a skeletal, elaborately dressed deity-like figure looms on a ceremonial throne behind them. Hub's atmospheric palette of deep blacks and turquoise gives the 2021 Delcourt album an almost ritual stillness, hinting at a world where the living and the divine uneasily share the same space.
