Tik-Tok, the One Man Army of Oz seeks the "reward" from the Wicked Witch and travels east to a town on the border between Munchkin Land and Gillikin Country. His companion, Kali, is a Kalidah, who is part bear, part tiger and does not speak. Tik-Tok recovers a magic compass from a band of outlaws which will point them to the reward. Soon the two find trouble with a sand serpent, nomadic desert munchkins and winged monkeys. The compass points to young woman captive of the munchkins with a glowing bullet in her heart -- the reward. The three are discovered and make a run for it together.
