Batman leaps across a stark nuclear hazard symbol — cape billowing, a grappling line trailing behind him — while a mass of grotesque, glowing figures writhes ominously below, setting a tone that is equal parts thriller and dread. This is Part II of "Destiny," with Bo Hampton handling both the writing and cover art, lending the issue a distinctive visual cohesion. Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #36 is a fine example of the series' commitment to darker, atmospheric storytelling in 1992.
