Les Carnets de Darwin #3
The third volume of Les Carnets de Darwin, subtitled "Double Nature," arrives from Le Lombard with a cover that immediately commands attention: a brooding, sharp-featured figure glowers out from a deep crimson background, his intense pale eyes and taut expression radiating barely contained menace, while chains and rope-like textures frame him in an almost primal composition. The title "Double Nature" feels perfectly embodied by this striking portrait — there's something caught between the civilized and the savage in every line of his face. Ocaña and Runberg's 2012 series continues to look like compelling, atmospheric storytelling.
