This second volume in Servais's pilgrimage series carries a distinctly haunting atmosphere, with a towering skeletal figure — the Ankou, Breton personification of death — looming over two young travelers, a young woman and a man in a red cap, against a backdrop of what appears to be Mont Saint-Michel shrouded in mist. The subtitle L'Ankou, le Diable et la Novice promises a journey where the spiritual and the supernatural intertwine along the roads to Compostela. Published by Dupuis in 2015, it's a beautifully eerie entry in this French-language series that blends pilgrimage folklore with genuinely unsettling imagery.
