Les Pierres rouges #1

The opening volume of Makyo's Les Pierres Rouges sets an immediately unsettling tone: a figure clutches their face with both hands, fingers splayed in a gesture somewhere between dread and concealment, while a framed painting of a grand, red-stone manor house looms directly behind them. Colorist Antoine Quaresma bathes the composition in muted, earthy warmth that makes the contrast between human vulnerability and cold architecture all the more striking. "Ombres au Tableau" — shadows on the painting, or shadows in the picture — promises a story steeped in secrets and unease from Delcourt's 2014 lineup.
