In this second volume of Les Voiles, subtitled Le Labyrinthe, a young woman in flowing desert robes stands in the foreground of a vast, sun-bleached landscape — her gaze direct and quietly determined — while a caravan of robed riders on camels moves across the dunes behind her. The warm, muted palette of Renot's artwork beautifully evokes the heat and solitude of the desert, with Ersel's storytelling promising a journey through both physical and metaphorical labyrinths. Published by Casterman in 2013, this Franco-Belgian album is a compelling blend of human drama and sweeping atmosphere.
