Three cartoon characters stand in a grimy urban street as the world seemingly falls apart around them — one stares helplessly at a phone displaying "NOT CONNECTED," prompting a speech bubble lamenting the loss of the network (or perhaps the end of the world). Bruno Madaule's Les Winners returns with issue #2, subtitled La Winne en Milieu Hostile, and the cover perfectly captures the series' comic premise: ordinary people, extraordinary dysfunction. Published by Bamboo Édition in 2012, this is sharp, relatable French humor at its most deadpan.
