"Champy the Space Chimp" tells the story of a chimpanzee selected by the Air Force for a space program. After extensive testing and training, Champy is placed in a special capsule and launched aboard an intercontinental ballistic missile, becoming the first of three test flights using solid fuel instead of liquid. Following a successful flight that reaches 4,600 miles down the missile range, Champy's capsule descends safely by parachute and is recovered from the ocean, after which he is transported back to the City Zoo where he becomes a celebrity attraction. Meanwhile, a separate story follows Li'l Genius attempting to help his father's campaign for elected office by using pop balloons as a political stunt, which backfires when a local crime boss's racket is exposed in the chaos.

Contains 2 stories
Pop for President
20 pp · Humor, Children

When a reluctant father is dragged to a P.T.A. function, his offhand suggestion about buying baseballs for the school catches the eye of the organization's president—and suddenly he's being drafted to run for P.T.A. president himself. With his son eager to help him prepare for the big campaign, what starts as a quiet afternoon quickly spirals into comedic chaos. This 1961 story from Li'l Genius proves that sometimes the simplest ideas can lead to the most unexpected adventures.

A Little Suburb of America
3 pp · Children

Alice visits her pen pal Miosha in Japan, but discovers that modern suburban life—hamburgers, baseball, and teenage dances—looks pretty much the same on both sides of the world. What Alice expected to be an exotic adventure becomes a warm reminder that kids everywhere share the same interests, no matter how different their countries might seem from a distance.
