“Book One: The Iron Horse”

"Book One: The Iron Horse" kicks off a gripping Western adventure with Lieutenant Blueberry, sent to broker peace between the Sioux and Cheyenne so a railroad can cross their land. As rival rail barons unleash a ruthless agent known as "Steelfingers" to incite violence, Blueberry endures a brutal gauntlet of ambushes, stampedes, and fire—each test pushing him to the edge. With negotiations in ruins and a burning bridge behind him, he’s left with one mission: face down the man who’s turned the frontier into a battlefield. Written by Jean-Michel Charlier, Jean-Marc Lofficier, and Randy Lofficier, and illustrated with bold, immersive art by Jean Giraud—whose distinctive style defines the entire issue—this is a classic tale of duty, betrayal, and survival. The cover, also by Giraud, captures the tension of the moment with striking precision.

Lt. Blueberry is sent to negotiate peace with the Sioux and Cheyenne so the railroad can be built. But rival railroaders hire "Steelfingers" to kill Indians on both sides to stir trouble. Blueberry survives a buffalo stampede, bar shoot-up and inferno, and steel-fingered beatings. But the bad guys triumph by sniping Indians and scotching negotiations. Blueberry and crew barely escape on a roaring train over a burning bridge. Now he needs to settle with Steelfingers...
