“The Song Is Ended”

In "The Song Is Ended," the Archies dive into a whirlwind of mischief when Betty and Veronica both vie for a go-go dancer spot, sparking a rivalry that escalates when Veronica attempts to kidnap Archie—only for a jar of vanishing cream to shrink him to tiny size. Written by Frank Doyle and illustrated by Bob White, with inks by Jon D'Agostino, this 1967 classic sees Jughead and Reggie enlist rubber bands in a desperate bid to stretch Archie back to normal, leading to a series of escalating pranks targeting Mr. Lodge. The cover by Bob White captures the chaos in full swing.

The Archies are looking for a go-go dancer and both Betty and Veronica want the job. Veronica tries to kidnap Archie so he'll pick her, but when he refuses, she throws a jar of vanishing cream at him, and he almost vanishes, shrinking down to miniscule size. Jughead and Reggie feed Archie rubber bands so he'll "stretch" back to his normal size, and then the three guys take to annoying Mr. Lodge (including turning up in his shower at one point) before scaring the girls away from the go-go girl gig.
