Little Audrey #4

When Audrey decides that she and her friend Patches should raise money for a fund to help poor orphans, the two set out to earn some cash through honest work—but their lemonade stand scheme takes a turn when they play up their "poor little children" act a bit too convincingly. What follows is a hilarious series of misadventures as their deception spirals out of control and catches the attention of some very sympathetic (and protective) grown-ups. By the time the dust settles, Audrey learns that there's a real difference between a good deed and pulling a fast one.

Audrey and her dog Patches promise their parents they'll be good while left home alone—and earn a special present if they succeed. After a run-in with a stray kitten leaves muddy footprints on the bedspread, the resourceful pair attempts to clean up their mess using the family's washing machine, only to discover that good intentions don't always lead to spotless results.
