In "A Livin' Doll," Audrey convinces Melvin to play with her doll—on her terms, with hot chocolate and donuts as payment—only for Melvin to turn the tables by enlisting Echo to pretend she’s a life-size doll. The game quickly spirals into a playful power struggle, with each trying to outwit the other in a battle of wits and treats.

In "A Crying Shame," Audrey can't help but feel sorry for Melvin when he bursts into tears, so she hands him a few more cents. Later, she counts up the total he owes—forty-nine cents—and lets her imagination run wild with all the wonderful things she’ll do once he pays her back and she’s rich.

In "Bugs," Audrey and Lucretia uncover an old sweater in the attic—only to find it teeming with moths. When Mr. Smith offers them a nickel for each moth they catch, the girls’ pest control mission quickly spirals into a full-blown insect hunt, with more than just moths turning up in their net.
