Eva declares she’s running away from home, fed up with chores and strict rules, only to be found by her friends who offer her refuge in their clubhouse. What starts as a sweet gesture quickly turns into a series of exaggerated "house rules" that mirror the very things she fled — washing, eating vegetables, and going to bed — leaving her wondering if she’s truly escaped.

Little Eva is sent on a simple errand to buy pecans for her mother, but her plans to play are derailed by a series of distractions—Margie’s princess doll wedding, a baseball game, and a marbles match—each time passing the task to someone else. As the wedding unfolds with her friends, Eva finds herself caught in a chain of promises, each one shifting the responsibility, until she’s left wondering how to finish the errand before her mother’s patience runs out.

Eva and her friend Judy pretend to be pearl divers in a playful adventure, imagining themselves in the South Seas where oysters yield treasure. When Eva swallows a few oyster shells, mistaking them for pearls, the girls hilariously scramble to "rescue" her from a supposed villain who arrives claiming to want the pearls—only to be outwitted by their own antics.

Nipper, a young boy eager to prove himself, takes on a job selling newspapers but struggles to make sales until he improvises a soldier’s hat from a paper, sparking a sudden demand from children who want their own. As he sells out, he celebrates by rushing to buy candy with the money he earned—only to be met with teasing from his friends who had bet he’d fail.

When Widow Jones, a poor woman, arrives in the snow to plead for medical help, she’s turned away due to unpaid bills — but Little Eva’s desperate search for her socks takes an unexpected turn.

Little Eva, determined to make a Leap Year proposal to her friend Nipper, tries a series of increasingly creative (and comically impractical) ways to win his hand—ranging from cigar bands to a handmade ring of grass and flowers—only to find him already engaged when she finally secures a diamond ring from a five-and-dime store. The story follows her flustered attempts to outdo herself, all while Nipper remains blissfully unaware of the chaos he’s unwittingly caused.

Spot, a dog with a flea problem, gets a bath from his owner, who insists on keeping him clean — a task that proves both necessary and a little messy. The story captures a lighthearted moment of care and humor, highlighting the bond between a dog and his human.
