Clara and Cora’s mother was a famous novelist, but Clara grows up hating books. She dates Vic, the son of her mother’s publisher, however he breaks up with her when she professes her hatred of reading and literature. Cora advises Clara to change her ways: Clara goes to work in a library and becomes a book-lover. This allows Clara and Vic to reunite, marry, and have children (who like to read).
