Love at First Sight #1
"Warned Against Her" introduces a tender, early romance in a 1949 Ace Magazines romance comic, where actress Diane hides her profession from architect Cal, who distrusts career women after his mother left to pursue her stage dreams. When the truth comes out and Cal breaks things off, a heartfelt reunion follows as family secrets are revealed and misunderstandings are cleared. The story, illustrated with expressive detail by Max Elkan, captures a quiet moment of emotional honesty in a world where appearances can be deceiving.

Diane meets architect Cal, who says his actress mother left when he was a baby to go “back to the stage.” As a result, he dislikes all “career women” and especially actresses. Diane is a popular actress but lies and says she’s a secretary. Diane learns fellow cast member Marcia is Cal’s mother. Cal proposes to Diane. Janet, who has her eye on Cal herself, brings him to the theatre and exposes Diane’s true occupation. Cal breaks up with her. Cal’s mother and father are reunited and explain to him that it wasn’t his mother’s fault that she left. Cal and Diane reconcile.
