"Oh Doctor!" follows Elsa Gayer, a patient who falls for her doctor, Mr. Charles, after he prescribes coffee and motel reservations to help her recover—resulting in a budding romance between them. "Envious" depicts Betty Simmons, the new Miss Braylorsville for 1959, who becomes consumed with envy over her rival Lana's constant beauty pageant and scholastic victories, threatening to overshadow their friendship. A third story, "For the Love of Jim," involves a young woman named Ella Brant who travels to Alaska in winter to be with her boyfriend Jim, only to encounter complications when Jim's Aunt Martha becomes ill and requires nursing care.
A young woman becomes infatuated with the new doctor in town, but grows frustrated watching him visit her neighbor Madge Carvell instead. When she discovers that Madge is genuinely ill and needs care, she sets aside her jealousy to help—and in doing so, finds her true calling and an unexpected path to her own happiness.
Sister act turns complicated when a back injury forces young recording star Nora Gaver to stay in a small Kansas town—and both she and her sister Elsa unexpectedly find themselves drawn to local men, testing a promise the sisters made to stay single and focused on their career. Written and illustrated in the warm style of 1950s romance comics, "Sister Act!" explores what happens when love threatens to pull apart a musical partnership built on devotion to each other.
A young woman's jealousy of her rival's victories grows so bitter that she hatches a scheme to steal away Betty Simmons' boyfriend at a local party—only to discover that envy blinds us to what truly matters. When her plan backfires in the most unexpected way, Lana learns a hard lesson about the cost of ruthlessness and ambition that comes far too late.
When Ella meets Jim, a lawyer newly arrived in Nome, Alaska, she's smitten and wants to show him she'd make a devoted partner—but Jim's drawn to Rosie, a glamorous nightclub hostess who excites him in ways Ella's steadiness doesn't seem to. As Ella continues to help Jim's ailing aunt and wrestles with her growing feelings, Jim finds himself reconsidering what truly matters in a woman and in love.
