Love Story Picture Library Holiday Special #[1980]
"Paradise Island" is a quietly poignant tale from the 1980 Love Story Picture Library Holiday Special, where Lily, a street vendor of herbal remedies, finds herself caught in a web of unspoken feelings. When Sue, desperate for Antony’s affection, seeks a love potion from Lily—only to have Antony fall for Sapphire instead—unexpected emotions stir between Sue and Ted, leaving their connection shrouded in doubt. Juan Solé Puyal handles both art and inks with delicate precision, while Giovanni Giovetti’s cover captures the story’s bittersweet mood.

Lily sells herbal medicines on the street, with occasional help from Ted. She sees Sue's hopeless passion for Antony. Antony won't even let Sue buy makeup, but when Ted is pushing love potions Sue asks Lily for a potion that would make Antony fall in love with her. Lily gives her a potion to put in Antony's coffee, but warns Sue that she must be the first girl he sees after drinking it. Instead, he sees Sapphire first. Sue decides to buy Lily's makeup and Lily asks her to take some coffee to Ted. Ted falls for Sue, but Sue thinks it is only due to the love potion.
