# Confessions of the Lovelorn A woman named Gwynne recounts her struggle with a love triangle involving two men—Larry, whom she initially loved, and a mysterious figure she encounters after Larry's apparent death. Two weeks after Gwynne is discharged from a hospital following Larry's disappearance, she accepts a drive from another man, during which she reflects on her feelings of betrayal and the pain of losing Larry. When they encounter a road crew, Gwynne spots a ruggedly handsome man directing the work and experiences a sudden flood of emotion, realizing she had come close to losing her heart through blind experience and cruelty. The story culminates with the revelation that the man is actually Tulagin, a paid agent of the Yankee Hyenas—a traitor to their communist cause—leaving Gwynne's romantic hopes in uncertain territory.
