The second chapter of Bartoll and Coyère's Mékong plunges readers straight into the chaos of the Moï forest, as a massive tusked elephant — ridden by an armed figure — charges through a jungle clearing while several men are sent scattering and falling in its wake. Coyère's artwork captures both the raw power of the animal and the desperation of the humans caught in its path, rendered in moody blues and greens that give the 2007 Dargaud release a distinctly atmospheric quality. If this cover is any indication, "Piège en forêt Moï" promises high-stakes adventure deep in Southeast Asian wilderness.
