Rod and Claire try to escape from Frank's men in a canoe, but Rod is shot in the elbow and can't paddle. Claire takes over, but the canoe is leaking and soon capsizes near the shore. The swamp water gets in Rod's wound and he eventually becomes very sick. The natives find them and take them back to their village. Then the police arrive. Claire knows their drugs could keep him alive, but then he would be sent back to prison.
