“Turning Point”

In "Turning Point," Namor and Dorma return to Atlantis to find the ocean polluted by a radioactive barrel—its contents stirring something monstrous. When the creature, known only as "It," destroys a Navy platform and attacks Atlantean forces, Namor leaps to action, blaming surface dwellers and charging into a clash that’s already spiraling out of control. With the Navy closing in and the Sub-Mariner on the offensive, the fate of both worlds hangs in the balance. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Dan Adkins, with a striking cover by Jim Starlin.

Returning to Atlantis, Namor and Dorma observe a submarine dump a barrel of radioactive waste. The man-shaped 'It' rises from the spilled waste and destroys a Navy offshore platform. In Atlantis, Namor summons his soldiers to carry a message to the surface dwellers; en-route they are attacked by It. As rash as ever, Namor assumes that the attack is the work of the surface dwellers and sets out to do battle. Meanwhile, a Navy submarine has found It and prepares to fire torpedoes just as the Sub-Mariner also attacks It.
