Marvel Tales #146
In "The Lost World!", a humble man’s kindness to a trapped leprechaun in the forest sets off a chain of magical changes when the creature gifts him enchanted seeds and paint to revive his struggling town. Though the townspeople ignore his dream of becoming mayor, even after the town begins to flourish, he ultimately chooses to return to the forest—taking the leprechaun back to his cave, where their fates remain uncertain. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated by Mort Drucker, with a whimsical cover by Carl Burgos, this 1956 Marvel Tales classic blends folklore and quiet wonder in a tale that’s as much about gratitude as it is about magic.

A simple man who wants to be mayor helps a Leprechaun in the forest by letting him out of a cave. The Leprechaun gives him magic seeds and magic paint to revitalize the town, but when he asks the ungrateful townsfolk to be made mayor they scoff at him just as much as before when the town was rundown, so he goes back into the forest and takes the Leprechaun with him back into the cave.
