Dec 2002 · Marvel · 2.25 USD; 3.75 CAD

In Marville #2, Kal’s sudden decision to give away his fortune sets off a chain of chaotic events, from clashes with Batman, Iron Man, and Black Panther to frustrating run-ins with Matt Murdock’s legal prowess. When the Kingpin’s identity is revealed as a surprise twist orchestrated by Spike Lee, Kal turns to the future for help—only to receive a time machine from his parents. Written by Bill Jemas and illustrated by Mark Bright, with inks by Paul Neary and colors by Transparency Digital, the issue’s cover by Greg Horn captures the surreal energy of this wild, satirical superhero tale.

After Rush Limbaugh tries to stop Kal from giving a begging Peter David a hundred dollar bill, Kal decides to be a hero by distributing his vast wealth to the poor. As he is handing out money, however, he is accosted by Batman, Iron Man and Black Panther who object to his generosity. Next, Kal helps the police nab petty criminals but ace lawyer Matt Murdock keeps getting them off. They track down the Kingpin of Crime only to find he is being played by director Spike Lee. From the future, Kal's parents decide to help him out by sending him a time machine.
