In "Wyatt Earp: The King's Ransom," the trail herd is driven to the cattlepens outside town, and King Ryan's tough Texans become steamed up for a fight, forcing Marshal Wyatt Earp to make his stand alone. In the main "Masked Raider" story, a lawyer named Reeves with a reputation as a rough-and-tumble fighter becomes involved in a land dispute; the lawyer seeks information at a bank, and later confronts characters over a land grant and territorial claim, with threats of legal action and violence escalating throughout the narrative.
Pat Garrett, Bucky O'Neill, and Wyatt Earp are drawn into a tense standoff in Douglas City as the outlaw Carse Amiel and his gang seize control of the town. With the local law powerless, a reluctant lawyer-turned-deputy named Les Wilcox steps forward to wear the badge and confront the mob, using cunning and the help of a mysterious ally to turn the tide.
