The issue contains two stories: "Apache Vengeance!" in which the Masked Ranger, pursued by Apache warriors for three days across the desert, evades capture by taking refuge in a cave after using his horse's speed and a lariat to escape a cliff ambush, ultimately reaching safety when a cavalry bugle signals the Indians' departure. The second story, "Jim Bowie," depicts the frontiersman Jim Bowie delirious with fever and haunted by memories of hunting his brother's killer, as he struggles through the wilderness pursued by a mountain lion while wrestling with visions of death and survival.

Contains 4 stories
The Iron Ghost
6 pp · Western-Frontier

The Masked Ranger races to Brand City after a mysterious ironclad vessel called the Iron Ghost has been terrorizing river towns—using stolen cannons to blast banks wide open for raiding gangs to plunder. Following a trail of clues, the Ranger infiltrates the raiders' operation, hides aboard the vessel itself, and tracks it to its hidden anchorage. Now he must rally the sheriff's posse to move in and bring this floating menace to justice.

Trial by Battle
6 pp · Western-Frontier

When the Crimson Avenger boards a train to the railroad's end, a Cherokee war party attacks without warning—breaking a peace treaty and forcing the hero to uncover why. Caught between two worlds, the Avenger must discover who's truly responsible for the violence and prove his words hold weight through a brutal trial by battle with Yellow Lynx. Cal Massey's tale of deception and frontier justice shows that sometimes the real enemy wears a white man's face, not war paint.

Desperadoes of the Desert
6 pp · Western-Frontier

When a dying Tuareg nomad appears in the desert seeking help, the Masked Ranger inherits a mystery—and a camel—that will lead him into the burning wastes to track down a gang of desert raiders who've looted the town of Mesquite. But as the Ranger pursues the desperadoes across trackless sand and through a raging sandstorm, he discovers the raiders' leader is someone he knows, and that keeping them grounded may be the key to stopping them for good.

Jim Bowie
5 pp · Western-Frontier

Jim Bowie faces his final hours trapped in a dying garrison, his mind drifting back through the events that shaped him—from a deadly encounter with a mountain lion that inspired him to forge the legendary knife bearing his name, to his years as a colonel defending the frontier. Now, as Mexican forces close in for their last assault, he must make his stand with the very weapons he created, knowing that death waits on the other side of the door.
