“Riverboat Romance”

In "Riverboat Romance," young Ann grapples with growing up when her crush Gary announces his engagement to her older sister Kay. With a windfall from selling a rare stamp collection, Ann sees a chance to escape her childhood and start anew—only to face a difficult choice when she realizes Kay’s dream of a white wedding is within reach, if only she’d give up her own plans. Antonio Borrell’s expressive art brings quiet emotional depth to this poignant tale of sisterhood, sacrifice, and the bittersweet weight of maturity.

Ann longed to be a grown-up, but everyone except Gary thinks of her as a kid. So Ann is heartbroken when Gary announced he is getting married to Ann's older sister. When Ann gets seventy-five pounds for a book of foreign stamps, she sees it as an opportunity to live by herself and have a life of her own. But when she sees how upset her sister is at not being able to afford a white wedding, Ann offers the money to Kay.
