Mirabelle Pop, Film and TV Star Library #15
In this 1960 gem, library assistant Fay finds herself tangled in a web of secrets and suspicion when she secretly extends the loan of Russ Conway’s latest record—just to spend more time with Jim, the man she’s growing close to. When a library patron nearly exposes her, Jim smooths things over, but their budding romance hits a snag when Fay witnesses Jim entering a neighbor’s home, only for that neighbor to report a theft shortly after. With tensions rising and trust hanging in the balance, the truth behind the incident remains just out of reach. Written and illustrated by Frank Langford, this charming, quietly suspenseful tale unfolds with the warmth of small-town drama and the sharp edge of a mystery waiting to be solved—complete with a cover by Langford that captures the story’s quiet tension.
