Mobil Disney Comics #22
In "Tortoiseshell Treasure," Goofy’s impulsive purchase of desert property leads to a wild mix-up when he and Mickey uncover a buried map on a surprisingly map-etched tortoise—unearthing a long-lost bandit’s cache of gold and a clever escape route out of the dunes. Written by Carl Fallberg and illustrated by Tony Strobl with inks by John Liggera, this 1964 freebie from Mobil Oil Australia delivers classic Disney charm and a twisty, treasure-hunting caper. The cover by Tony Strobl and John Liggera captures the desert mystery with a touch of whimsy.

Goofy buys some desert property, sight-unseen, and moves his house there. He and Mickey soon realize it was one of Black Pete's land fraud schemes. While digging a well, they find a tortoise with a map carved on its shell that leads them to an abandoned cabin. Inside is a bag of gold coins left there years ago by a bandit gang. The map also shows them the way out of the desert and they fetch the police to arrest Pete and Slink.
