A young man in Adobe City stirs suspicion after a series of robberies, with townsfolk convinced a mysterious outlaw known as Red Jack is among them—though no one has seen him clearly. When a stranger arrives and the sheriff’s deputy accuses him of being the criminal, the truth begins to unravel in a tense game of misdirection and hidden identities.

Monte Hale tracks down the outlaw Johnny Deuces, who has killed a man and fled on horseback, only to be pursued by a wild stallion that refuses to be tamed. After a grueling chase and a brutal struggle, Monte discovers the stallion has been mistreated and, when Johnny tries to ambush him, the horse intervenes—saving Monte’s life. The story ends with Monte offering the stallion a partnership, and the horse’s defiant neigh suggesting a bond forged.
