Mulo #2

From Pog and Le Bihan comes this intriguing second volume of Mulo, subtitled Villégiature. The cover sets an immediately arresting tone: a massive, red-caped donkey looms protectively — or perhaps ominously — over a grand, dimly lit manor house, while a gathering of anthropomorphic animal characters, including figures in formal dress and one in a wheelchair, stand before it in the cool night air. It's a wonderfully strange tableau that blends the gothic atmosphere of a country-house mystery with the off-kilter charm that makes this Dargaud series so distinctive.
