This anthology issue contains two science fiction stories. "The Night the Masks Were Real" depicts armed explorers on an alien planet encountering mysterious masked beings and investigating their true nature through combat. "The Enemy" is set on a far planet in the year 2163 where life exists in another dimension; the story follows spaceman Tag, who is recruited into a military space force and given an interstellar drive, only to malfunction during his first mission and crash in a meteor storm, stranding him far from his intended destination.

The Enemy

As the two clash in a tense confrontation, Holmes realizes with horror that his opponent is not an enemy from another world, but a twisted manifestation of himself—revealing the planet’s inhabitants have weaponized human self-doubt to protect their realm.

Man Alone
