Mystic #48
In "He Changed at Midnight," a mysterious visitor from Mercury must keep his true form hidden—only revealing himself at midnight, when he alters his appearance by setting his clock forward. When a greedy man uncovers his secret and tries to turn him in for a reward, the Mercurian takes him on a journey back to his home world to learn the cost of greed. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated by Hy Fleishman, with a striking cover by Carl Burgos, this 1956 tale blends science fiction and moral fable in a standout issue of Mystic.
