“Notes #31”

In "Notes #31," Roberta Gregory delivers a tense, character-driven story where a seemingly minor lunchroom clash between Midge and Marcie spirals into something far more dangerous. As secrets hidden in purses come to light—Marcie’s concealed gun, Midge’s lingering stash of Chuck’s porn—tensions escalate in ways neither woman could have foreseen. With Gregory handling every aspect of the art and lettering, the issue’s raw, intimate style amplifies the emotional weight of a single day that changes everything.

Midge gets into an argument with Marcie in the lunchroom, then realizes she's provoking someone with a gun. When Marcie finds Midge going through her purse, Sylvia suggests both women empty their purses; Marcie panics about her gun and Midge panics about Chuck's porn she's still carrying around. Later, Marcie's gun is stolen in a mugging and used to commit three murders. Midge breaks up with Chuck.
