"Out of This World" depicts a scientist who creates a chemical formula that causes a dog to disappear, but when he attempts to recreate the experiment, he puts too much of the element in the mixture and must start over. "Space Amateurs" follows the Hastings household children, who have formed a Space Travel Club under the presidency of Robert Hastings, as they discuss space exploration, rocket design, and lunar travel with input from their science teacher Mr. Berman, while also exploring romantic dynamics among the young members. A third story titled "Out of This World" (sharing the first story's title) involves characters named Jane, Dr. Zenser, Hal Adams, and Abella, with Jane having repeated dreams and Hal discovering information about Abella that disturbs him.
In "The Spymaster," a quiet pharmacist named Dennison hides a decades-old secret: he’s an alien spy from another world, sent to Earth generations ago to monitor humanity using invisibility powder. Though he’s always valued friendship over duty, the arrival of a new chain drugstore stirs doubt when the townspeople claim they’ll resist it—yet Dennison suspects their loyalty is false. When the local drugstore closes, he makes a choice that defies his mission, staying behind to protect the friends he’s come to care for, while his fellow spies vanish into the shadows.
