This anthology issue contains three crime stories. "Joey Rindone and the Brown Shirt Gang" recounts the unusual rise and fall of Joey Rindone and his gang of killers, who ascended from obscurity to become the nation's most dreaded group of triggermen in five short months, only to face apprehension and execution. "Death by Firelight" follows young Jimmy Mellon, who witnesses a hobo stabbed to death with a hunting knife in the woods near his home; his report to police leads to the identification of the killer as Emanuel Corten, a wanted fugitive, who is ultimately captured and sentenced to life imprisonment in a Massachusetts State Penitentiary. The third story depicts a convict named Gunny who is released from reformatory after serving three years and reunites with a criminal associate to plan a heist, but the two are caught and apprehended by authorities.
