In a humorous twist, a young man named Patchies accidentally becomes a singing sensation after his friend Tubby tricks a mob leader into thinking he’s a famous crooner. As the charade unfolds, Patchies must keep up the act while dodging the mob boss’s demands and the growing crowd’s expectations.

When Muley Walker, Crawford Corners' star fullback, injures his knee before the big game against Maggoty Gap, the team scrambles to find a replacement—leading Coach Crawford to reluctantly put the lanky, unathletic Tubby in the lineup. Though Tubby’s more at home with ping-pong than football, he unexpectedly finds himself in the spotlight when a stray quarter sparks a chain of events that puts him on the field with just minutes left.

Patch and Tubby stumble upon a mysterious "buried treasure" map while on a picnic, leading them on a humorous quest through Cobblers Creek. As they follow the clues—balancing rocks, willow trees, and old landmarks—they grow increasingly excited, only to discover the treasure is a clever scam involving fake gold sold by a shill.

Patch and Tubby take jobs at Joe's Jook Joint after reading a self-help book promising "100 Easy Steps to Success," but their attempts to be forceful and aggressive backfire in chaotic fashion as they struggle with orders, a giant cake mishap, and a very angry Mr. Boxer. Amid the mess and laughter, they learn that even the most well-intentioned plans can go awry when you're just trying to make a quick buck and keep your appetite satisfied.
