In "Cash In Advance," Percy and Ferdie help their landlady Mrs. Pruhn rent out rooms to boarders while she is away on vacation, devising a scheme to collect advance payments from transient renters. When a film company arrives to shoot an educational picture at their boarding house, the landlady's various schemes and the boys' antics create complications. In "Hypnotic Eyes? The Landlady Has Them, Too!", Percy attempts to hypnotize the landlady's cat to raise money, but the landlady uses her own hypnotic powers on Ferdie to make him eat her angel puffs and later to extract a loan of ten dollars from him, ultimately turning the tables on the boys' schemes.
