A second story involves a woman named Kay who helps her boyfriend Ricky, a man accused of a crime; when a new witness clears Ricky's name, the couple reconciles and looks toward their future together. A third narrative features a red-haired woman named Arleen caught between her boyfriend Eddie and a sophisticated older man named Rick, ultimately choosing to stay with Eddie and rejecting Rick's advances.
Jean Brownley, a successful dress-shop buyer, sets her sights on Jim Otis, an attractive married man who becomes her neighbor—and methodically plots to win him away from his wife Mary by sending Mary on a Caribbean cruise and monopolizing Jim's attention while she's gone.
