“The Golden Goose”

In "The Golden Goose," Simpleton’s kindness is rewarded with a magical bird that binds anyone who touches it—leading to a hilarious, chain-reaction parade through the countryside. With the goose as his unlikely guide, Simpleton faces three daunting challenges to win the heart of a princess, all while navigating the absurd consequences of his golden companion. Written by the Brothers Grimm and brought to life with vibrant art by Mike Sekowsky and Frank Giacoia, this whimsical tale features a delightfully drawn cover by Dik Browne.

After helping a little man to food and drink, Simpleton is rewarded with a Golden Goose. Those who attempt to touch Simpleton's goose become stuck to the bird (or each other) and Simpleton thus becomes the leader of a comical procession through the countryside. Eventually, the goose helps Simpleton win the love of a princess, but they are allowed to marry only after Simpleton accomplishes three seemingly impossible tasks.
