Planet of the Apes #24
In "The Birth of Apeslayer," the origins of the legendary rebel take shape as General Raker recounts the brutal past that forged him—his mother and Dr. Carver murdered, his family enslaved, and young Dozer forced into the arena. Written by Gerry Conway and Roy Thomas, with Howard Chaykin’s striking art and Frank Chiaramonte’s inks, this 1975 Marvel UK issue follows Dozer’s rise from slave to gladiator to fugitive, his name earned in blood. The cover by Ron Wilson and Mike Esposito captures the grim intensity of a world where survival means defiance.
