In the heart of Hydromeda, the assassination of Councillor Lornus shakes the city’s fragile peace—his death by arrow, not gun, points to a hidden threat. With suspicion falling on a gorilla, the city braces for unrest, and King Argol must navigate a web of loyalty and fear as the first signs of rebellion stir beneath the surface.

In the aftermath of an assassination, King Argol recalls a past mutiny and begins reinforcing the defenses of the City of Hydromeda—revealed to be a massive spacecraft. Meanwhile, Gorilla rebel leader Barbarus is stunned to learn the orangutangs are preparing for war, just as he was about to sign a peace treaty with First Lieutenant Swarthos and King Argol. The Assassin remains a shadow in the background, their motives still unknown.
