In the dusty frontier of 1969, a lone Native American delivers a secret message to Triste Gufas, who abruptly vanishes without explanation. As a white hypnotist and the cunning chieftain Gale Elg conspire with English agents to install Gale as the new head of the tribes, Gufas returns—only to challenge them in a trial of strength. The fate of the tribe hangs in the balance as the old ways clash with new schemes in the sweeping landscape of the western frontier.
