Proof #23
"Julia: Conclusion" brings the haunting, intricately layered story of Proof to a powerful close, with Alex Grecian’s writing and Riley Rossmo’s striking interior art—penciled and inked by Rossmo—guiding the emotional weight of Julia’s final resting at the Lodge. As Ginger and Elvis finally embrace their feelings, the past unfolds in stark, surreal flashes: Lent’s fateful exhibition, Mi-Chen-Po’s vengeance, and the unlikely alliance of the Dover Demon and McKraken against Jack the Ripper, all converging in the present where Proof confronts his grief and whispers of a future he’s beginning to accept. The cover by Riley Rossmo captures the story’s melancholic intensity, a fitting frame for a tale that lingers long after the final page.

In the present, Proof lays Julia's remains to rest at the Lodge while Ginger and Elvis finally decide to date. In 1860, Lent's exhibition of Julia & Gulliver's remains caused Proof to break away from the world of humans; Mi-Chen-Po tortured Lent to death then became a hermit in Tibet; the Dover Demon and McKraken returned to the circus in London and eventually faced Jack the Ripper together. In the present, although Proof is haunted by thoughts of what he might have had with Julia, he tells Isabella he's ready to move on.
