The second volume of Rétine, subtitled Course dans le Solar, opens with a striking collision of worlds: a white-bearded rider on a mechanical red horse charges along railway tracks, rifle raised, while a second crimson biomechanical steed gallops nearby against a backdrop of smoke and a massive futuristic locomotive. Writer Stéphane Piatzszek and artist Iñaki Holgado deliver a cover that perfectly captures the series' blend of Western grit and science-fiction spectacle. Published by Soleil in 2013, this is a visually arresting chapter in a series that clearly refuses to stay in any single genre.
