Heiress Carol has only a few months to live due to an illness. She falls in love with gardener Bruce and they wed, but she begins to feel Bruce is really only interested in getting her money after she dies. Two grifters who raised Bruce, Jim and Dotty, arrive to share the loot. However, Bruce discovers housekeeper Mrs. Parsons has been slowly poisoning Carol: he turns her over to the police and ejects his freeloading relatives, so he and Carol can be together, in love.
