“Reptisaurus and the "Peoples'" Dragon”

In "Reptisaurus and the 'Peoples' Dragon," the prehistoric beast awakens on a remote atoll after a nap, only to be caught in the blast of a U.S. atomic test. Enraged, he turns on military jets and flies eastward, wreaking havoc across China before encountering a communist parade—and a surprisingly captivating prop dragon. Written by Joe Gill and illustrated by Joe Sinnott with inks by Vince Colletta, this 1962 Charlton classic features a cover by Sinnott and Colletta, blending Cold War-era spectacle with the absurd charm of a giant lizard smitten by a puppet.

After napping on the beach of an atoll and hunting whales in the nearby depths, Reptisaurus gets blasted by a U.S atomic bomb test that is conducted on the atoll. Angered, he destroys the military jets then flies towards China. After running amok attacking villages and battling the Chinese air force, he sees a communist parade underway and falls in love with a prop dragon. The communists decide to rig the prop with explosives to kill him when he comes into contact with it. The explosion enrages him and after killing the communists who rigged the explosion, he flies to the Himalayas to rest.
