History

The Richie Rich solo series launched in November 1960, several years after the character's 1953 debut as a backup feature in Little Dot, with publisher Alfred Harvey and artist-editor Warren Kremer credited as his co-creators — though Kremer famously claimed he named the character after his own son, a credit Harvey disputed. By the fifth issue, the early bimonthly series was actively developing its ensemble, with Kremer supplying cover art and the editorial team of writers including Sid Jacobson shaping stories around the theme of absurd wealth played for gentle comedy. The issue also continued Harvey's anthology tradition by including backup stories starring Little Dot and Little Lotta, co-headliners who shared real estate in the title throughout the flagship run.
