When Jerry suggests that Morty get a job, Rick decides to show Jerry up by teaching Morty "how smart people make money" - investing in stocks by "[merging] our timeline with one where the stocks we invested in were successful!" For this transgression, Rick and Morty are taken into custody by Detective Tock and his Time Police.
